Paul prays in 1 Thess. 3:12 for love to abound for 'one another' and 'for all.' We love one another and we love the world best by pointing each other to Jesus and that often is expressed through serving one another and the world around us. We encourage everyone at Grace to serve within the church and to invest in seeking the welfare of Waco and the surrounding cities.
As we often say, we want you to be For the Church and For the City. Will you serve with us?
For The City
As a body of believers, we are for our city. We want to make Jesus known, seek restoration, and be part of His Kingdom work on earth. There are many great ways to serve in Waco, but there are three initiatives we believe God has called and equipped our church to particularly invest in: Education, Foster Care & Adoption, and Food Insecurity. You can learn more about those below.
You can also use this incredible resource to connect with nearly every service opportunity in Waco. Search for opportunities, connect with local nonprofits, and invest your time and talents for the Kingdom. Try it: http://waco.forthecity.org
Crestview Elementary School
As a church, we want to be invested in the next generation—specifically with our neighbors. Crestview Elementary, sitting right around corner from Grace Church, has almost 800 students grades Pre-K to 5th. We are investing relationally to support teachers in their jobs, to enhance reading levels of kids, and to share the love of Christ to everyone who steps through the doors. Want to read with kids? Tutor? Pray before school starts with staff? Contact and take the first step by clicking here to sign up through Waco ISD.
Foster Care & Adoption
Arrow Children and Family Ministries
There are several ways to get involved in caring for children who are in the foster care system. Maybe you can’t become a foster parent at this time, but you can be trained to babysit for a foster care family, provide respite care (care for a child up to 14 days), or volunteer to mow a family’s lawn. We also need volunteers to provide child care and make dessert at Arrow’s Quarterly Family Fun Night here at Grace. Email for more details.
Just down the street, Shepherd’s Heart Food Pantry serves hundreds of people and families each month. The food pantry is set up like a grocery store and is open every Thursday afternoon. Come serve, distribute meals, and build relationships with our Waco neighbors! They also have a mobile food pantry on the Second Saturday of each month, located at 3300 Franklin Ave from 10am to noon, and one on the Third Tuesday of each month from 11am to 1pm at TSTC. Visit http://waco.forthecity.org/connect to sign up for a specific opportunity with SH or email .
